The Ryugyong Hotel


 
 

The Ryugyong Hotel is located in North Korea. The Ryugyong Hotel is a skyscraper intended for use as a hotel in Sojang-dong, in the Potong-gang District of Pyongyang, North Korea.Construction began in 1987 and ceased in 1992, due to the government's financial difficulties. The unfinished hotel remained untouched until April 2008, when construction resumed after being inactive for 16 years.

Transamerica Pyramid


 
 
The iconic Transamerica Pyramid is to the San Francisco skyline what the Eiffel Tower and Space Needle are to Paris and Seattle: Instantly recognizable symbols on the cities they tower over. he shape of the building was chosen because its tapered design casts a smaller shadow and allows more natural light to filter down to the streets below than conventional high-rises.

Like the Eiffel Tower, the Space Needle was built for the World’s Fair. A space-age structure was chosen to go along with the 1962 fair’s theme, Century 21.There are 848 steps from the bottom of the basement to the top of the Observation Deck.The foundation weighs 5,850 tons and there are 250 tons of reinforcing steel in the foundation.The Needle weighs alone 3,700 tons.The center of gravity for the Space Needle is 5 feet above the ground.The Space Needle is fastened to its foundation with 72 bolts, each 30 feet in length.The Space Needle is 605 feet high and 138 feet wide at its widest point.It is built to withstand winds of up to 200 miles per hour.

It is known as “the oldest skyscraper city in the world” and “the Manhattan of the Desert.” Shibam is an ancient walled city of five- to nine-story mud brick towers that date back to the 16th Century. They were built to resist attacks by Bedouin invaders who coveted the city’s stores of frankincense and myrrh.

The Seagram Building is a skyscraper in New York City, located at 375 Park Avenue, between52nd Street and 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan.It is 516 feet tall with 38 stories.It was the world’s most expensive building upon completion because of the materials used and the architect’s decision to sacrifice rentable office space in favor of building a large plaza at the building’s base.

The first building in San Francisco to have an indoor parking garage, the Russ Building was the tallest building in that city from 1927 to 1964. It has such a prominent place in the heart of the city’s financial district that for years it was known simply as “the skyscraper.” The neo-Gothic structure is a California State Historic Landmark. It’s known for its exquisite interior of granite floors and marble wainscoting.

It is an iconic structure, designed to symbolize Dubai's urban transformation and to mimic the sail of a boat. It is the arguably the most famous building in The United Arab Emirates.

The AT&T Building is a 630.5 ft (192 m), 32-story skyscraper completed in August 1994 and located in Nashville, Tennessee. The structure is designed as an office tower capable of housing 2,000 workers and as of 2008 is occupied by two companies. It is currently the tallest building in the state of Tennessee.

Kingdom Centre also called Burj Al-Mamlaka is a supertall skyscraper located in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.It is the 45th tallest building in the world with a height of 311 m (1,020 ft). It is also host to the highest mosque in the world. The Tower Contains a total of 43 floors excluding the 4 levels of basement.Besides the shopping mall, the Centre includes the Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh and state-of-the-art apartments. The 100 meter long skybridge atop the skyscraper, at a height of 297 meters, contains a public observation deck and a view of the entire city of Riyadh.

Al Faisaliyah Center


 
 

The Al Faisaliyah Center is a commercial skyscraper located in the business district of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Immediately below it an outside viewing deck; at ground level, there is a shopping center with major world brands. The Al Faisaliyah Center is about 267 meters high and consists of 44 floors.The 4 corner beams of the al faisaliyah centre join at the top above a golden ball. The design is said to be based on that of a ballpoint pen. Inside the golden ball is a luxury revolving restaurant. There is a clear view of Saudi Arabia's other skyscraper, the Kingdom Centre, from the Al Faisaliyah Center and the two buildings create a silhouetted skyline in the evening.

Two Prudential Plaza is a skyscraper that was built in the Chicago Loop area of Chicago,Illinois, United States in 1990. At 995 feet (303 m) tall, it is currently the fifth-tallest building in Chicago and the eleventh tallest in the United States. It has also been honored with 8 awards, including winning the Best Structure Award from the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois in 1995.

20 Exchange Place is a 59 floor Art Deco building in New York City. Formerly known as the City Bank-Farmers Trust Building, it was built between 1930-1931, for the newly merged National City Bank of New York and the Farmers' Loan and Trust Company, a predecessor firms ofCitigroup.It is 741-foot (226 m) tall building, New York City's fourth tallest building at the time. It remained among the top ten tallest buildings in New York until 1970. Today, as the sixth tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and 27th tallest in New York City, it is still among the most prominent buildings in the city skyline.
